It is long overdue for justice and a transparent investigation into this crime

The US State Department spokesperson, Ned Price, noted that “the first anniversary of the assassination of the Lebanese activist Luqman Selim is an official reminder of the need for accountability in Lebanon.”

In a statement on social media, he stressed that “it is long awaited for justice and a transparent investigation into this crime, and other murders.”

In a speech marking the first anniversary of the assassination of Luqman Selim, US Ambassador Dorothy Shea said, “Let me begin by renewing my deepest condolences to the family of Luqman Selim, as well as to those here and abroad, who loved him and who worked with him. We are all here affected by his work.” She explained, “Luqman defended the rule of law. He was a fighter for freedom of expression, democracy and civic participation, never intimidated by repeated threats once morest him. In his life, he fought for justice and accountability. In his death, he deserves these things.”
