GPA: Current offer still insufficient – further labor conflict threatened GPA: Current offer still inadequate – further labor conflict threatened

Vienna. (OTS) – In the IT industry with around 90,000 employees, no agreement could be reached in the sixth round of negotiations on January 15th. The employers’ final offer amounted to 6.25% of the actual salary amount and 7.25% of the collectively agreed minimum salaries. The basis for negotiations is last year’s average annual inflation of 7.75%.

“The current supply is still inadequate and is well below the underlying annual inflation. It is difficult to understand why a deal below the inflation rate should be accepted in the IT industry, which is certainly not a crisis industry. Employees in the IT industry also deserve a salary that secures their purchasing power. “We are now calling on the employees to take part in the protest rally on January 24th in large numbers in order to emphasize the demand for a socially just conclusion,” said the negotiator of the GPA union, Sandra Steiner.
