Automobile fans certainly raised a few eyebrows when Russian manufacturer Avtotor presented its first 100% electric model. Called Amber, it must enter circulation by 2025, the site reports. RB.RU. But this vehicle, unveiled in a red color, was especially talked about for its design which could be described as original. Some have used much cruder terms to mock the cubic style of this car for which the manufacturer is considering massive production.

“It looks like a child’s drawing,” laughs a user on X (formerly Twitter), while another does not hesitate to designate it, already, as “the ugliest car ever produced”. At first glance, it is quite difficult to fit this vehicle into a specific category.

In the first images revealed by the manufacturer, this car takes the form of a van, equipped with two doors and no rear windows. The particularly raised positioning of the two small front headlights, all round, was also widely commented on.

Few technical details

“Congratulations to Russia for making the Avtotor Amber, which looks like Milhouse without his glasses,” writes a user of X, who here refers to the character of Milhouse Van Houten, Bart’s best friend in The Simpsons. Another dares, for his part, to make an animal comparison to mock this very bulky grille and this very tall mutt. “I knew I had already seen it somewhere,” jokes “RustyCrypto”, accompanying his tweet with a capybara, known to be the largest rodent in the world.

The Avtotor Amber was quickly compared to the Fiat Multipla, a famous minivan from the 2000s with also a very particular style. “So some people in Russia thought it was a good idea to copy the ugliest Italian car ever made?!”, asks a certain Lionel Piguet while another sees the subtle mix between a Kangoo, a utility model manufactured by Renault and… a Babybel.

Until now, Avtotor did not enjoy much awareness outside of Russia. This manufacturer was best known for assembling European or Asian cars, as the magazine explains Autoplus. Few technical details are available at the moment, specifies the specialized media, for whom it is quite unlikely to see this atypical car roaming the roads of France.
