The militants of Social Convergence and Democratic Revolution approved by more than 80% of the vote the unification of both communities.

The plebiscite, which took place last weekend, concluded with a total number of more than ten thousand votes cast through an online voting system. In Social Convergence 23% of the voters voted, and in the DR 7%.

“In the Ñuble region, both in Social Convergence and in the Democratic Revolution, the merger of the Broad Front was approved. The figure for militant participation was similar to the last internal elections of each party, so we value the level of commitment of active militancy. The merger of the Frente Amplio constitutes a historical milestone in the path that we have outlined as a progressive alternative in our country, which will have a positive impact on the level of strength and impact to continue working for dignity and social justice, by establishing ourselves as the largest left-wing party in Chile,” said the regional president of Convergencia Social, Francisca Leyton.

Meanwhile, the regional coordinator of the DR, Katterina Osorio, expressed that “we have to understand that there is a proposal that seeks to respond to the demands of the country at this time, and we are in a process of construction and growth both as a party and as a community of the Frente Amplio, which permanently urges us to face these types of challenges.”

In this way, the Frente Amplio will become the largest party in the country, with 62 thousand members, a thousand of them in Ñuble.
