The seventh day of the Mediterranean Games of Oran 2022, in Algeria, was marked by the feat of the Italian athletes who managed to reach the bar of 100 medals, three days from the end of the competition.

Italy is the first country, out of the 26 participants to reach this threshold, while approaching first place, thanks to its harvest of the day (22 more medals, including 9 gold).

However, this country remains in second place with 100 medals, including 31 gold, 36 silver and 33 bronze. With less performance compared to previous days, Türkiye still safeguards its first place, thanks to its gold medals (37). It now has 84 titles, including 37 in precious metal, 21 in silver and 26 in bronze.

In any case, the Türkiye should not let slip the podium, but its 1st place is very coveted by Italy.

The other competitors remain very far away and it is difficult for them to reach the top of the classification during the next three days. Indeed, Algeria, the host country, comes in third place with 38 medals, including 15 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze. He needs an extraordinary feat to be able to claim second or 1st place.

The same goes for France, 4th, with 56 medals, including 11 gold, 17 silver and 28 bronze. But France can steal 3rd place from the host country if it performs exceptionally well in the coming days. It is also the ambition of Serbia which occupies the 5th place with 24 medals, including 11 in gold, 5 in silver and 8 in bronze.

Spain, 6th, remains in ambush and can claim several other titles, especially in team sports and athletics. Egypt, which occupied the first places during the first three days, tumbles to 7th position with 34 medals, including 7 gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze.

It is closely followed by Greece (17 medals, including 7 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze). For its part, Portugal has abandoned the last places and climbs to the middle of the table (9th with 18 medals, including 6 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze). Tunisia, meanwhile, comes in 10th position with 24 medals, including 5 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze.
