It’s official, E3 is definitely dead and will never come back! | Xbox One

After three canceled editions in 2020, 2022 and 2023, and a digital version in 2021, it is time to definitively say goodbye to E3. Stanley Pierre-Louis, the president and CEO of the Entertainment Software Association, has indeed made the bad news official.

E3 is definitely dead

Started in 1995, the Electronic Entertainment Expo has recently experienced many difficulties, including the arrival of new competitors, the withdrawal of partners and even disruptions linked to the Covid-19 crisis. Le Washington Post thus reports the words of Stanley Pierre-Louis following the announcement of the death of E3.

We know that the entire industry, gamers and creators alike, have a great passion for E3. We share this passion. We know it’s difficult to say goodbye to such a beloved event, but it’s the best thing to do given the new opportunities our industry has to reach fans and partners.

This decision is not surprising and should not disrupt the habits of publishers and developers since some are now organizing their own online events to unveil their new games. Note, however, that the event should have returned in 2025 in a brand new version.

As in previous years, players will still be able to benefit from the organization of a new edition of the Summer Game Fest at the beginning of June 2024 and certainly conferences from other publishers, or even manufacturers like Xbox is used to doing.

However, E3 also represented a solution for meeting developers. If today players do not lose much, this is clearly not the case for developers, especially the smallest ones.
