“It’s politics.” Russian hockey player spoke about the refusal to extend a work visa in the Czech Republic
Russian striker “Slovan” Nikita Shcherbak spoke about the problems with obtaining a work visa while playing in the Czech Republic last season. The striker played for Hradec Kralove Mountfield until September 2022, when he was unable to renew his contract due to problems obtaining a new work visa.
“I have been in touch with the club for a couple of months. I needed a Slovak visa. I live in Montreal, from where I had to go to Ottawa, where I received the necessary documents to enter the country.
My visa in the Czech Republic was not renewed. I do not know what kind of rules the country has for Russian citizens in this matter. Nothing could be done, I think it’s unfair to some extent. This is politics.
I haven’t played in four months? The pause was long, but usually it happens when you get injured. I also had serious health problems in my career, I know my body. It may take me a few matches to fully immerse myself, but I think that I will be fine. I worked in Slovakia last year, I know what style and what speed they play here. I trained, I’m in good shape, ”Sport Aktuality quotes Shcherbak.
