The iPhone 12 Pro Max is sublimated with the best smartphone screen on the market, say experts at DisplayMate. With its “state-of-the-art” OLED panel, Apple’s high-end smartphone distances itself from the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra from Samsung, the former title holder.
Built around a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, l’iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest iPhone ever made by Apple. Produced by Samsung, the panel that adorns the terminal is distinguished by its contrast ratio of 2,000,000: 1 and its maximum brightness of 1,200 nits with HDR.
A few days after its release on the market, the smartphone passed the DisplayMate test bench. Not surprisingly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max inherits the first place in the ranking by dethroning the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra from Samsung.

Despite the lack of a 120 Hz screen, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is number 1 at DisplayMate
With his screen confined to 60 Hz, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has indeed managed to outpace the Note 20 Ultra and its 120 Hz panel. Apple’s latest vintage has reached 11 display performance records. The laboratory highlights in particular the precision of colors, contrasts and the performance of True Tone and Night Shift technologies.
Developed by Apple, and available on all recent iPhones, the option True Tone Automatically adjusts screen color and brightness based on ambient light. This functionality is also built into Mac and iPad. For his part, Night Shift adapts colors and brightness to change to warmer tones as the sun approaches. The option is aimed at relieving the eyes of users.
“To be usable in strong ambient light, a screen needs a dual combination of high screen brightness and low screen reflectance – the iPhone 12 Pro Max has both” explains DisplayMate. In all conditions, the smartphone screen therefore remains readable and pleasant to use.
Best of all, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s screen consumes 10% less energy than that of the iPhone 11 Pro Max, his predecessor. “The iPhone 12 Pro Max screen meets all DisplayMate criteria and requirements” concludes the laboratory. DisplayMate therefore grants it the A + grade. What do you think of the results of this test? We await your opinion in the comments below.
