Iztapa and Universidad remain unstoppable at the top of the First Division table
The Clausura 2024 Tournament continues to take place in the silver league of Guatemalan soccer. Iztapa and Universidad maintain their good results and are consolidated at the top.

Between March 2 and 3, 2024, the tenth date of the 2024 Clausura Tournament of the First Division League of Guatemalan soccer was held, the highest division of the country’s promotion. This day was highly anticipated by the fans of the 20 teams that make up the local football silver league. It was the start of the second round of the championship.
With half of the season already complete, many of the clubs must already have the calculator in hand to estimate what the results will be that will help them meet their objectives. While in the upper part teams like Iztapa and Universidad celebrated a new victory, others like Sololá and Cuilapa see maintaining the category further and further away.
On the other hand, teams such as Suchitepéquez and the current champion, Juventud Pinulteca, also celebrated in their respective duels.
While Group B divided its activity between March 2 and 3, Group A completed its schedule for matchday 10 on Sunday, March 3 and gave the following results:
Group A
- Deportivo Iztapa 2-0 Quiché FC
- CSD Sololá 1-2 Marquense
- Nueva Concepción 2-1 Santa Lucía Cotz
- San Pedro 3-1 Democracy FC
- CSD Suchitepéquez 4-1 Juventud Copalera
Group B
- Aurora 2-1 Heredia
- Sacachis 4-1 Freijanes
- Cuilapa FC 1-3 Mictlán
- San Benito 1-2 University
- Juventud Pinulteca 2-1 Barbera
Deportivo Iztapa remains leader of Group A with 21 points resulting from 7 wins and 3 losses. Suchitepéquez and Juventud Copalera are hot on their heels, but remain with 19 and 18 points respectively.
In Group B the great monarch is the University team. The university team has 23 points after 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. Just one unit behind is Juventud Pinulteca with 22 and Aurora closes the podium with 19.
Regarding relegation, only one of the four teams involved in the fight managed to gain points. Nueva Concepción won at home against Santa Lucía Cotz and their three points earned helped them gain a 4-point advantage over Sololá, which lost at home to the runner-up Marquense.
Cuilapa and Fraijanes for their part failed on the day and succumbed to Mictlán and Sacachiqpas respectively.
The next matchday of the First Division League will be played on Wednesday, March 6 in its entirety.
