Jabeur in quarter, against Tomljanovic

Unhappy finalist at Wimbledon, Ons Jabeur (no 5) will play the quarter-finals at the US Open.

The Tunisian dominated Russian Veronika Kudermetova (no 18) 7-6 (7/1) 6-4 in the 4th round to reach this stage of the competition for the first time in New York.

Ons Jabeur was able to reverse a compromised situation on Sunday in the Arthur Ashe stadium. Led 2-5 in the initial set, she flew over the debates in an almost perfect decisive game before signing the break in the fourth game of the second set. She certainly trembled at the time of conclusion, conceding her engagement while serving for the match, but recovered perfectly.

The Tunisian will face Ajla Tomljanovic (WTA 46) in the next round, who confirmed her success once morest Serena Williams by dominating Liudmila Samsonova (WTA 35) in two sets. The other quarter-final at the bottom of the women’s draw will pit the impressive Caroline Garcia (No. 17), who is on 12 consecutive victories following her coronation in Cincinnati, and the promising Coco Gauff (No. 12).
