According to The Athletic newspaper, James, a two-time Olympic champion and four-time NBA champion, is in the process of recruiting his fellow NBA stars for the United States squad that is seeking to win a fifth consecutive gold medal in France.
ESPN reported that Curry, who won the NBA title four times with the Golden State Warriors, expressed his desire to play on the Olympic team, also led by his coach, Steve Kerr.
This news comes the day after the American team, consisting of 20 players from the league’s stars, bid farewell to the Basketball World Cup empty-handed after losing to Canada in the match for third place and the bronze medal, after being eliminated from the competition for the title in the semi-finals against Germany, which later won the tournament at the expense of Serbia.
James, 38, led the United States to win the Olympic gold medal in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012, but he has not played since then.
