Jameson shines; Arizona and Dodgers split doubleheader

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Drey Jameson pitched six strong innings in his second major league start, Ketel Marte knocked it out of the park and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 Tuesday night to split a doubleheader.

The Dodgers took the opening game 6-5 after rookie Miguel Vargas drove in the final run with a single inside the four in a five-run eighth inning.

Jameson (2-0) and the Diamondbacks snapped the Dodgers’ five-game winning streak, which has a season-best record in the majors, 103-45. The 25-year-old right-hander extended his scoreless innings streak to 12 before giving up a pair of runs on Max Muncy’s 21st homer.

Jameson scored the win with a two-run, seven-hit effort, with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Reyes Moronta pitched the ninth for his first save, Arizona’s second win in 22 games at Dodger Stadium.

Ty Anderson (15-4) took the loss after giving up three runs, all unearned, and two hits in six innings.

In the first game of the doubleheader, after stranding 12 runners in seven innings, during which they connected just one run on seven hits, all the Dodgers paraded through the batter’s box in the eighth inning and came back from a 5-game deficit. 1.
