Jammu and Kashmir Police Introduces GPS Tracker Anklet for Monitoring Terror Accused

Jammu and Kashmir Police has installed GPS tracker coluses to monitor the bailed terrorists. The Jammu and Kashmir team has become the first police force in the country to prepare this system. A GPS tracker anklet will track the movements and movements of the person to be monitored by attaching a GPS collar around the ankle.

The device is already in use in Western countries such as USA, United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The system is used to monitor defendants on bail, parole, and house arrest, as well as reduce overcrowding in prisons. Jammu and Kashmir SIA team uses anklet tracker to track terrorists out on bail.

The system is being made widespread after a special NIA court in Jammu directed the police to attach a GPS tracker anklet on a terrorist. The current move is in the case of accused Ghulam Muhammad Bhatt in an FIR registered under various sections of UAPA. The accused asked to be released on interim bail while the bail application was being considered. Bhatt is facing trial for allegedly having links with various terrorist organizations at the behest of the banned terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen. He is also an accused in the NI case in the Patiala court.
