Japan and Spain dominate Women’s World Cup Quarter-Finals with impressive victories

Wellington: Japan and Spain entered the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup. In the pre-quarter, Japan advanced by defeating Norway by three goals against one. Spain also crushed Switzerland 5-1.

Japan took the lead with a 15th minute own goal by Norway’s Engen. Reiten equalized for his side in the 20th minute but things changed in the second half. Shimizu (50) and Miyazawa (81) gave Japan the win. For Spain, Bonmati (5, 36) hit the Swiss net twice. Redendo Ferrer (17), Codina (45) and Hermoso (70) also scored.

In the 11th minute, the Spanish team conceded an own goal due to Codina’s mistake. The Netherlands will play South Africa and the U.S. will play Sweden on Sunday.
