Japan detects a new type of mutant omicron

The ministry stated, according to the Japanese (Kyodo) news agency, that the National Institute of Infectious Diseases analyzed, during this month, a sample taken from a person who tested positive for the Corona virus with a new type of omicron that includes a mixture of the PA1 mutation and the PA2 mutation that is more capable of transmitting infection.
For its part, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Japan confirmed that it was the first discovery, whether inside or outside Japan.

There is no need for concern, the institute added, because the new subtype of the omicron virus is not generally spreading around the world.
