Japan’s Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi has tested positive for COVID-19 and is recovering at home.
She added in a statement that no close contacts with him had been identified in the ministry.
A ministry official said Hayashi had earlier developed a mild fever but that his current symptoms were limited to a sore throat.
And Kyodo News Agency had reported earlier that Hayashi canceled his attendance of today’s parliament session following suffering a fever.
