Japan’s Ayumu Hirano won the men’s half-pipe skating gold medal at the Winter Olympics, currently being held in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
Hirano achieved a result of 96, taking first place to win the gold medal, while American star Shawn White failed to be in the lead in the last Olympic participation in his career.
Hirano, who won silver in the Pyeongchang and Sochi Olympics, beat Swiss Scotty James, who scored 92.50 to win the silver medal, knowing that he had won the bronze in Pyeongchang.
Jan Shearer finished third in the competition today, taking the bronze medal.
