It is not known whether the leaders who disagreed with Deve Gowda in Karnataka will come with the Kerala component. Krishnankutty also accused the Congress of worsening the situation in Karnataka by not bringing the JDS to the front. The minister said that the JDS leadership had already made it clear that they do not intend to merge with any party and will take an independent stand in Kerala.
