Jeff Teague joins Atlanta scouting team

Jeff Teague has returned to the Hawks to join the scouting of the organization, as he himself confirmed in statements to KL Chouinard of Hawks.com.

“I’ve been all over the world watching basketball, so I have a very good eye for who I think can play at a certain level,” says the 34-year-old veteran point guard, who on the other hand does not claim to have retired, although everything points to it.

Last season, 2020-21, he was part of the champion Milwaukee Bucks to play 21 games of regular season and another 16 in the playoffs. After his time with the Wisconsin team, he had to decide whether to have surgery to be ready for the next course or choose not to. He chose the second option.

Now, already in the offices, Teague comments that it was a plan that he had been managing for a long time, since in his second stage with the Georgia franchise he expressed to Travis Schlenk (general manager) his desire to join the team’s operations department. He has finally started his career as a scout.

“When I was with the Hawks for the second time, I told Travis that I wanted to work in the front office. I asked him if when he stopped playing he would be willing to help me. He told me that when that day came, if he was still in office, he would help me. I approached and he has kept his word ».

Regarding the tasks entrusted to Teague, he will dedicate himself to looking for talent in the NCAA for the draft. Having his residence in Indianapolis, he has several universities, such as Louisville or Kentucky, to which he can attend with some comfort.
