In the last round, Jeon Inji (28) showed her potential by overcoming the 5 stroke difference and playing the 4th overtime, but postponed the achievement of the ‘Career Grand Slam’ to the next.

Jeon In-ji played the fourth overtime match against Ashley Bugay (South Africa) in the final 4th round of the AIG Women’s Open, a major event of the LPGA Tour held at Muirfield (par 71) in East Trodian, Scotland, UK on the 8th (Korea time). In the end, he finished runner-up.

In-ji Jeon, who was leading the solo until the second round, lost one stroke in the third round, gave up the lead position to Budae and moved down to joint second place. In the 3rd round, Bubu reduced 7 strokes and climbed to the top spot by 5 strokes ahead of Jeon Inji.

However, in the final round of the tournament, Jeon reduced one stroke to 3 birdies and 2 bogeys. On the other hand, Bubuy had 1 birdie but 2 bogeys and a triple bogey on the 15th and lost 4 strokes.

In-ji Jeon, who dramatically overtaken the lead by five strokes, and Bukai, recorded a final total of 10 under par 274, and extended the match.

Jeon In-ji played four overtime games against Bukhai on the 18th hole. As the tee shot on the fourth hole of extra time fell into the bunker, the game virtually turned. While In-Jeon Jeon recorded the bogey, Budae kept the par, and the direction of the championship was decided.

Jeon In-bee regretfully missed the second ‘career grand slam’ as a Korean player after Park In-bee.

Career Grand Slam means winning four out of five major championships: Chevron Championship, US Women’s Open, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Evian Championship, and AIG Women’s Open.

Jeon In-ji won the U.S. Women’s Open in 2015, the Evian Championship in 2016 and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June this year.

Inbee Park became the first Korean player to achieve a career Grand Slam by winning the US Women’s Open, ANA Inspiration (now Chevron Championship), KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and British Women’s Open (currently AIG Women’s Open).
