Yesterday, the prosecution sent investigators to the Gyeonggi Provincial Office to search and seize the past email records of the head of the Democratic Party’s Political Coordination Office, Jeong Jin-sang.

The e-mails sent and received by Chung were obtained while serving as the chief of policy in the secretary’s office in Gyeonggi-do for three years from 2018.

Prosecutors are reconfirming the past criminal charges, until the days when Chief Chung worked at Seongnam City Hall and Gyeonggi Provincial Office.

A prosecution official said, “We are looking at all the allegations raised, including court testimony,” regarding attorney Nam Wook’s revelations about the transfer of money or shares in Daejang-dong in the past.

A war of nerves continued over Lee’s remarks on social media about the arrest of Chief Chung, saying, “Guilty and innocent, guilty without guilt.”

An official from the prosecution protested, saying, “It is a legally issued arrest warrant, but it is putting a malicious and political frame on without specific grounds.”

The official said, “All suspicions of bribery and political funds are the result of crimes stemming from the collusion between local self-governing power and private businessmen.”

Chief Jeong Jin-sang is in the position that the prosecution’s claim, which relied only on one side’s statement, is not true at all.

Chief Chung requested a review of whether the detention was lawful, and the court held a hearing this afternoon to decide whether to continue detaining Chief Chung or release him.

Unlike former head Dong-gyu Yoo and lawyer Nam-wook, Man-bae Kim, who has claimed that he owns the stake in Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1, is scheduled to be released shortly after midnight tonight when the detention period expires.
