Jeremy Clarkson to Build Jaguar F-Type Using Farm-Grown Materials in Prime Video Special

Jeremy Clarkson is returning to car-building television with a brand-new Prime Video special titled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special. The standalone episode, slated for release in 2027, centers on an unusual engineering project: transforming a Jaguar F-Type V6S by growing several of its components from scratch at Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.

The project follows Clarkson’s departure from The Grand Tour alongside James May and Richard Hammond in 2024, concluding 21 years of collaboration. While Clarkson’s Farm has run on Amazon’s streaming service since 2021, this upcoming feature marks his first scripted return to automotive construction on camera since his days on Top Gear.

Growing a Jaguar F-Type on Diddly Squat Farm

The concept for the special originated from both a personal ambition and a field on Clarkson’s Oxfordshire property. Clarkson previously noted that his motivation began with a simple desire: I wanted to fit a wider body kit on my F-Type convertible. However, the scope of the build quickly expanded far beyond standard body modifications.

According to project details from Prime Video, the custom vehicle will utilize a Diddly Squat leather interior, bespoke wool carpets, and an innovative flax-composite paneling material. The sustainable flax fibers are cultivated directly on the farm and processed to serve as an alternative to traditional carbon fiber—materials that have never appeared on a production Jaguar before.

Design Expertise and Engineering Pedigree

To ensure the farm-grown components meet high engineering standards, Clarkson enlisted Ian Callum CBE to assist with the redesign. Callum, founder of the UK-based design firm CALLUM, previously led the design teams behind the original Jaguar F-Type, the Jaguar XK, the C-X75 concept, and iconic Aston Martin models including the Vanquish, DB7, and DB9.

Callum’s involvement provides the television project with significant design pedigree. His expertise focuses heavily on style, luxury, and performance as the team attempts to integrate raw, sustainable farm produce into a luxury sports car.

Clarkson developed a deep appreciation for the vehicle prior to launching the project, noting that he purchased an F-Type immediately after using one to traverse a West African nation for a previous television shoot. He described the Jaguar as so impressive, calling it so tough and so unbreakable.

Prior Automotive Stunts and Historical Comparisons

Car-building adventures are not entirely new for the British television host. Automotive media has frequently compared the upcoming farm-to-road project to historical stunts from his past television career. Most notably, viewers and critics have drawn parallels to the Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust, a bespoke eco-car built during season 14 of Top Gear using an old Jaguar XJS base.

The durability of the new flax-composite material will be evaluated in the coming months. The special will document whether sustainable agricultural outputs can genuinely rival industrial automotive manufacturing.

Prime Video Release Plans and Global Availability

Prime Video has scheduled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special for release in 2027, though an exact premiere date has not yet been announced. The platform confirmed the special will be available exclusively to subscribers in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The announcement rollout mirrors previous marketing campaigns for the main farming series, utilizing preview imagery that features Clarkson actively fitting new body panels onto the F-Type. Following the recent broadcast of series five, the sixth series of Clarkson’s Farm is also positioned to debut in 2027.
