Jesús Faría on the sale of shares of state-owned companies: It should be open to everyone

From his point of view, this does not mean that economic policy has failed.

The president of the Finance and Development Commission of the National Assembly, Jesús Faría, said that at the moment it has not been defined who will be able to participate in the purchase of shares of public companies announced by President Nicolás Maduro on Wednesday night.

However, he considered that the offer “should be open to everyone, both the private sector and foreign investors, because we want the income capacity to be expanded.”

“We have to adjust the policy to the moments. Economic policies have not failed. Companies that have been abandoned by their owners have been expropriated, we have recovered them and put them to work. We are also recovering the oil companies at this time, because they were abandoned by their owners. The economy will never be able to develop without the stewardship of the State, free market projects are doomed to failure », he estimated.

In an interview on Globovisión, he pointed out that the country’s economy is picking up, but resources are needed to invest them, so that production can continue to expand.

He also indicated that there is no possibility of expanding the productive apparatus without investment and they want to return to having the highest salary income that Latin America had.
