JFA 2024 Board of Directors Meeting: Tsuneyasu Miyamoto Appointed as 15th President

The Japan Football Association (JFA) held a board of directors meeting on March 23rd, with new officers approved at the regular council meeting on the same day, and Managing Director Tsuneyasu Miyamoto was elected as the 15th JFA president by mutual election among the directors. The number of directors was significantly reduced from 27 to 15 in accordance with the “Basic Policy for the Board of Directors Structure and Business Execution System” decided at the 7th Board of Directors meeting last year. Additionally, we achieved the target ratio of external directors (25% or more) and female directors (40% or more) stipulated in the Japan Sports Agency’s Sports Organization Governance Code (for medium-sized sports organizations).

The board also elected chairs and honorary officers for the three committees: technical, women’s, and refereeing.
Masanaga Kageyama, who is the youth development director of the technical committee, will be appointed as the technical committee chairperson, while Norio Sasaki, the women’s committee chairperson, and Kenji Ogitani, the referee committee chairperson, will be reappointed. Other committees will be selected based on the committee’s reorganization policy.
