job creations in companies fell by 20% in the second quarter

Very responsive to the economy, it is the distance selling and call centers and online services sectors that illustrate the cold snap on growth identified by Trendeo, with respectively 6,583 and 1,092 additional jobs cut than those created in these two sectors over the first eight months of the year.

Traditional industry continued to see its workforce increase, with 26,625 new jobs over the first eight months of the year, i.e. a positive net balance of 10,074 compared to the January-August 2021 period.

“Beginning of fall or air hole? »

“Beginning of fall or air hole? “: the semi-annual report of the firm Trendeo, which identifies and analyzes twice a year all the announcements of investment of the companies on the French territory, does not settle. “Until the end of August, there is no evidence of a violent slowdown in the economy as a whole”, underlines the report. But, in April, the balance of job creations and job losses fell “below the level of 2021”, notes Trendeo.

As a result, the relocations of companies which had experienced a record year in 2021, seem to be slowed down in their growth as well. In the first half, Trendeo counted 28 relocations against 4 relocations. In the second half of 2021, the figures were 44 and 4 respectively, and 46 and 12 in the first half of 2021.

The dynamics of factory creations remain high and “the many alarming signals on industrial activity are not (yet?) reflected in closure decisions”, adds Trendeo.
