Joe Biden Launches New Campaign Spot Targeting Donald Trump: The Race for President of the United States

Joe Biden, 81, has just launched another campaign spot for the elections for president of the United States. She did it with a piece that she spread on social networks and that has Donald Trump between her eyebrows. And also he joked about his own age, one of the points that the opposition questions. “Look, I’m not a young guy, that’s no secret,” the current US president emphasized, smiling.

“I’m not a young guy, that’s no secret. But I propose a deal. I know how things are done for the people of the United States,” are the first words of the audiovisual piece, which from now on will begin to run on social networks and television.

Biden, wearing a white sweater and a blue sweatshirt, looks at the camera. Behind, out of focus, a flag of the United States. The president maintains his smile, while archive images appear. The management of the pandemic, his support for abortion and the questioning of Trump (77 years old) are the issues discussed in the minute-long spot.

“I led the country during the Covid crisis. Today we have the strongest economy in the world. I presented a project that lowers the price of medicines. It puts a cap of $35 per month on the price of insulin for elderly patients” , continues the Democratic candidate.

Then he slips the first criticism of his predecessor. “For four years, Donald Trump tried to pass an infrastructure law, and he failed,” says Biden, over images of the Republican magnate clumsily manipulating the bibliography of that law.

“I managed to do it,” he sticks out his chest and differentiates himself from his predecessor, who was left with the path paved after the loss of his last internal rival, Nikki Haley.

“Now we are rebuilding the United States. I presented the largest law in history to combat climate change, because our future depends on it,” he asserted on another issue that opens a gap with Trumpism.

And he continued with another attack on the magnate, in this case for abortion. “Donald Trump took away women’s freedom to choose. I am determined to make Roe v. Wade the Law of the Land again,” he said of the paradigmatic case on termination of pregnancy, which the Republican opposed.

Then he returns to charge and polarizes with his main competitor for the 2024 presidential elections. “Donald Trump believes that the president’s job is to take care of Donald Trump,” he says while his predecessor is seen driving a golf cart, with the cap of Make America Great Again. “I believe that the president’s job is to fight for you, the American people. That’s what I’m doing.”

It all concludes with a photo of Biden smiling at a campaign event and the legend Biden-Harris superimposed. But it is a false ending, because after a sudden cut to black there is an encore.

Health and memory problems, Biden’s final joke

“Can we do another take?” a voice-over asks. And the camera turns on again.

“Look, I am young, energetic and beautiful… “What am I doing this for?” Biden jokes about his age again, before closing with laughter.

This is how he joked about the main suspicions about his state of health, after at the beginning of February a prosecutor spoke of his “limited memory”, which unleashed a political earthquake and strengthened calls for him to give up his candidacy for re-election.

The current president of the United States had published his first campaign spot on January 6, on the third anniversary of the storming of the Capitol by Trumpist militants who tried to prevent his presidential inauguration.

The spot, titled “Causa,” warned of the “extremist” threat to democracy, with images of the invasion of the building. “All of us are asking ourselves now: what will we do to maintain our democracy?” Biden said in that first piece.

“There is something dangerous happening in the United States: there is an extremist movement that does not share the basic creeds of our democracy,” he added in the piece, also one minute long.
