ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Joe Burrow threw two touchdown passes and Bengals from Cincinnati beat the buffalo bills 27-10, Sunday, to return to the final of the American Conference.
If the Bills had defeated the Bengals, the American final against the Chiefs of Kansas City would have taken place on neutral ground in Atlanta because the Bills (13-3) ended their campaign half a game behind the Chiefs (14-3) due to the canceled meeting against the Bengals, when Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the pitch.
“They better send out the refunds,” Burrow said, referring to the 50,000 tickets sold for a game that won’t happen.
“See you in Atlanta,” a Bengals player heard sarcastically en route to the locker room, where cornerback Eli Apple and a few teammates were enjoying a cigar while answering questions from the media.
Burrow completed his first nine passes for 105 yards, guiding the Bengals to a 14-0 lead after their first two possessions. Ja’Marr Chase caught a 28-yard touchdown pass and Hayden Hurst grabbed one from 15 yards about eight minutes later.
“The bigger the stakes, the calmer he gets,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said of Burrow, who is 5-1 in the playoffs. Our guys believe in it. They arrive on the field more than ready. »
The Bengals reached the All-American final for the second straight year, a first in team history. They will take the direction of Kansas City to compete against the Chiefs.
The Cincinnati squad have won their last three games against the Chiefs, including a 27-24 victory last month. The latter made sure of a fifth consecutive participation in the final of the American after beating the Jaguars de Jacksonville 27-20 Saturday.
