At least if you want to believe Joe Montana.
The living legend of the San Francisco 49ers has claimed Brock Purdy could lead the California team to Super Bowl victory.
Montana on Purdy: “If he does that…”
“If he continues to do what he’s been doing for the past week, then yes,” the two-time MVP, who had led the Niners to the Super Bowl four times in his career, replied in the “USA Today” to a corresponding one Question.
Purdy, drafted 262nd and last by the 49ers, made an impressive debut last Sunday.
After Jimmy Garoppolo was seriously injured in the game against the Miami Dolphins, Purdy replaced him.
And the 22-year-old from Iowa State put on a performance on the lawn of Levi’s Stadium that, in combination with the strong performance of the defense, made even 49ers icon Montana dream of a big triumph.
Purdy shines with two touchdowns
In the 33:17 win, he completed 25 of 37 passes for 261 yards and also threw two touchdowns.
