After his huge 2021-22 season and the elimination of his Sixers against the Heat in the second round of the Playoffs, Joel Embiid is enjoying the summer as he can. Our new compatriot finds himself at the heart of a big buzz following the publication of a video which shows him dancing at a friend’s wedding. Images that give the smile and which almost seem to respond to those of the evening of the other dominant pivot of the League, Nikola Jokic, a week ago.
Everything is going well for Joel Embiid this summer, thanks for him. Since the end of the season, the pivot was rather discreet and we mainly heard about him for obtaining French nationality. A restraint from which The Process has come out pretty big in the past few hours. Invited to the wedding of American filmmaker Michael Ratner, Jojo let himself go on the dance floor for the occasion. And this is how, a few hours later, we end up with an improbable video: we see the pivot, all smiles and dressed in an impeccable suit, taking part in the Hora, a traditional Jewish dance, in the middle of all the other guests. This extract obviously made the buzz very quickly. The image is as implausible as it is amusing, and it always feels good to see this kind of lighthearted content upon waking up on a Monday morning. Seeing this, we couldn’t help but think of the crazy evening of Nikola Jokic, who also offered us some dance moves in a completely different style just a week ago. Shirtless around a fire on one side, costume and bow tie on the other, everyone will have their preference but the efforts of the two players to entertain us are appreciable. By digging a little further, one can also wonder if all this is not just an extension of the sporting rivalry of the two men outside the floors. Last season, Niko and Jojo churned out classics as if it were raining on us in an MVP race that was quite exciting to follow. It was ultimately the Serb who emerged victorious and we imagine Joel revengeful. These two therefore never leave each other, until they invest in new areas to decide between themselves? At that point, gentlemen, let’s push the delirium to the limit: the people are calling for a duel between big men in the next season Dance with the stars. Well, ok, we’re going a bit far for two guys who are just taking advantage of their summer to relax, but it would have been very nice anyway.
Simple summer decompression or new playground for the two pivots? In any case, we would see Jojo and Niko face off on a Friday evening, at 9 p.m. on TF1. And when you think that Embiid became French a few days ago, you say to yourself that nothing is impossible with him. But while waiting to see Chris Marques judge the sway of the two players, we will more likely find them on the court next season for a new remote duel which promises to be exciting.
