Johnson: I leave with my head held high

A week following his resignation, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was leaving the post “with his head held high”, while his Conservative Party began a gradual process yesterday to reduce the number of candidates to succeed him from eight to two amid accusations of dishonest practices.
Facing MPs in the House of Commons, Johnson said he was proud of his performance.
β€œIt is absolutely true that I am leaving at a time that I did not choose, but I am leaving with my head held high,” he said with regret during an impeachment session.
Johnson appeared before the House of Commons in one of the last parliamentary questioning sessions in his capacity as prime minister before announcing his successor on the fifth of September, following thwarting the opposition’s attempt to oust him before that date.
