Join “Stras’bouge Against Hepatitis C” for The Courses de Strasbourg – Get Tested for Free on May 17!

In the Grand Est, hepatitis C affects approximately 11,300 people and has caused the death of 2,600 people in France according to the latest data from 2001. The disease causes inflammation of the liver which destroys liver cells and prevents the proper functioning of this organ.

The City of Strasbourg, in association with the association SOS hepatitis Alsace-Lorraine, the CPAM of Bas-Rhin and the ARS Grand-Est, is launching for the second consecutive year their public health campaign “Stras’bouge contre l’ Hepatitis C “. Together, they invite the population to be tested and remind that hepatitis C can be cured in less than three months in 99% of cases.

On the occasion of Courses de Strasbourg, which will take place from 12 to 14 May 2023the City of Strasbourg offers residents ofjoin the team of runners of “Stras’bouge against hepatitis C” on the 5 km course, and to take part in the various activities offered at the village of Les Courses de Strasbourg place Kléber during these three days.

In the presence of Alexandre Feltz, deputy mayor in charge of public and environmental health, and Frédéric Chaffraix, head of SELHVA (Expert Service for the Fight against Viral Hepatitis in Alsace) and founding president of the SOS hepatitis association Alsace Lorraine.

To note that May 17the Strasbourg partner laboratories will open their doors to offer get tested for the hepatitis C virus, free of charge and without a prescription.
