Jon Rahm takes two-stroke lead at Arnold Palmer Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. —Jon Rahm wrapped up his round with an eagle-birdie-birdie streak on Thursday, taking a two-shot lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Rahm went 65, seven under par.

“It was an outstanding round,” said Rahm, who birdied on his first three holes. I wish they were all equally enjoyable.”

The 28-year-old Spaniard has been victorious in five of his last nine tournaments.

In the trio at 67 is Chris Kirk, who won the Honda Classic last weekend.

Kirk totaled eight birdies, including two thanks to 30-foot putts.

Cameron Young and Kurt Kitayama also brought home a 67 card.

Young is looking for a first PGA victory.

Kitayama committed his only bogey on his last hole, the ninth.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler hit 68 – as did Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and four other golfers.

Author of four birdies, the Canadian Nick Taylor is among the 10 players four shots from the lead.

On the other side of the Canadians, Adam Svensson and Corey Conners played par, Mackenzie Hughes delivered a 74 and Taylor Pendrith signed a 77.

Rory McIlroy had to settle for a 73 including a double bogey on the sixth hole, where he sent his tee shot into the water.
