Jonas Vingegaard loses time, but is “boosted” for Sunday: “The climb will be completely different”

Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) suffered a blow on Saturday during the 14th stage of the 111th Tour de France, the first of two difficult stages in the Pyrenees, covering nearly 152 kilometers between Pau and Pla d’Adet. Slovenian yellow jersey, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), won the stage by 39 seconds.

Pogacar strengthened his position as leader in the general classification, with the bonus seconds at the finish, extending his lead to 1:57 over his new runner-up, Vingegaard. “Tadej launched a very powerful attack, but I also performed well. I can’t be disappointed. It’s a shame to lose regarding 40 seconds, but the last three kilometers were flat, which suits him better,” the Scandinavian analyzed in front of the press.
