Now Jonathan Hedström is making a comeback – in division two.
On Tuesday afternoon, the division two team IFK Tumba Hockey presented a real prestige signing. 46-year-old Jonathan Hedström has taken down the ski boots from the famous shelf and will now lace up the grills again for games in the Stockholm club.
– I felt “shit what fun”, it could be great fun to play a little hockey again, says Jonathan Hedström, who, among other things, has World Cup silver on his merit list.
Trained by the landlord
Tumba’s coach, Mikael Österblom, is also Jonathan Hedström’s landlord. After the team had problems with illnesses, Hedström was asked to participate in training and now the 46-year-old is also registered to play matches with the team.
– You know that you are 46 years old and that they are quite young. I’ve had a few ailments like that, but otherwise I think it feels completely okay actually, says Hedström.
Second time
Jonathan Hedström ended his career in 2015. Three years later, however, he made his first comeback when he played two games for the division three team Åsele IK.

It has now been almost six years since he last played a match. The idea is that Hedström will make his match debut on Thursday. However, it may be later depending on the form.
The former WC forward will mainly contribute with one thing:
– Can you say routine or not?
– I mostly think so. Then some stuff in the game, I can hope, he says.
“Then it flares up again”
The hockey profile has long been open about problems regarding mental illness and eating disorders, but today feels that he is doing well.
– We are human and some days it is worse, but at the same time you now have tools to be able to handle it in a different way. Then it is frustrating to see when young people feel bad, because you have experienced it yourself. Then it flares up again, but somewhere in the big picture I feel fine.
Since August last year, Jonathan Hedström has been youth manager in Huddinge IK Hockey.
