Jordan is discussing with Australia and Japan an end to the “disaster” in Gaza

Amman – Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, with his Australian counterparts Penny Wong and Japanese Kamikawa Yoko, discussed on Thursday efforts to cease fire and end the humanitarian “disaster” in Gaza.

This came during two phone calls, according to two statements by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, two copies of which Anadolu received.

The first statement stated that Al-Safadi received a call from Penny Wong, “which focused on the need to address the humanitarian catastrophe facing the Gaza Strip and the need to reach an immediate ceasefire.”

The two ministers stressed “the necessity of providing protection for humanitarian relief personnel, ensuring their freedom of movement, and opening crossings for immediate and adequate entry of aid to all parts of the sector.”

Al-Safadi offered his condolences to his Australian counterpart for her citizen, who was killed in the Israeli attack on the World Central Kitchen in the middle of the Gaza Strip.

The Jordanian Minister thanked Wang for his country’s resumption of providing aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

While he discussed with his Japanese counterpart “efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire, end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and bring sufficient aid to all parts of the Strip,” according to the second statement.

They stressed “the importance of intensifying efforts and finding mechanisms that contribute to the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to all parts of the sector, and the necessity of respecting international law and international humanitarian law.”

Since October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip with American support, in parallel with a dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, including the city of East Jerusalem, occupied since 1967.

Israel insists on continuing the war despite the issuance of a ceasefire resolution by the UN Security Council, and despite Tel Aviv appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide” crimes against the Palestinians.
