In search of his PGA Tour card, Cordoba golfer Jorge Fernández Valdés participates in this week’s Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance, a competition that marks the end of the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season.

Jorgito currently in 24th place in the Korn Ferry ranking seeks to secure the best possible place in the top 30 to have a playing card for the 2024 PGA season. There are 72 holes in the Victoria National Golf Club located just outside of Evansville, Indiana.

The golfer from Lomas de la Carolina is one of the 73 participants who, since there are no qualifying cuts, will play the four rounds. But he is not the only Argentine since Alejandro Tosti also participates, who is fifth and has already secured his card for the PGA in 2024, and Fabián Gómez, who needs to win or get his card back.

Jorgito arrived on Sunday night accompanied by his family: his wife Martina and his daughter Azalea and he was practicing the course on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and he is confident: “I really want to grab the PGA card, it is a unique moment , so you have to take advantage of it and enjoy it. I was getting to know the course well, studying the greens and trying all the possible lies (ball seats).

There are three options in play this week:

  • Place first and obtain fully exempt PGA TOUR status for the 2024 season and qualification for the 2024 US Open and THE PLAYERS Championship, two Majors
  • Placing between 2nd and 30th will obtain PGA TOUR 2024 membership and are subject to reorganization according to the results they obtain.
  • And those placed between 31 and 73 will be completely exempt in the Korn Ferry Tour 2024. From 31 to 60 they have a chance to continue their path to the PGA with direct access to the final stage of the PGA TOUR Q-School and those located between 61 and 73 will go directly to the second stage of the Q-School.
