JORGE Martin described a big change in his mentality since suffering defeat in the 2023 MotoGP title battle. The Pramac Ducati racer has a 10-point lead at the top of the standings ahead of this weekend’s Australian MotoGP.

Defending champion Francesco Bagnaia is the main contender, with Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez still mathematically a chance. Martin is desperate not to lose the title, as happened last season in the final round.

“In February after the break, when we started again, I didn’t want to go back to the MotoGP bike,” said Martin, quoting Crash, Wednesday (16/10).

“I have a lot of fears. I don’t know if I can be as fast as before. Then I jumped on the bike. I realized that it was the same thing. I’m fast again, I can fight again. My target now is to fight and give 100%.”

This was a title fight with many mistakes between Martin and Bagnaia. But with four laps remaining, Martin insists he is the best rider in his class.

“I am stronger. I’m a little better in almost all areas,” he said.

“I don’t feel faster. Maybe last year I was faster, I had more speed than the others. Currently, we are close to Pecco, Enea, and Marc. We’re similar.”

“But I am stronger because there are some things that make me a little better. We improved a lot mentally.” (Ndf/P-3)
