This Sunday the death of José Curiel Rodríguez, former governor of Falcón state, was reported due to pulmonary insufficiency and after having been hospitalized for several days in Caracas.

Through social networks, friends and relatives of the politician spoke to mourn the death of who was also Minister of Public Works in the first government of Rafael Caldera.

José Curiel Rodríguez was in a Caracas clinic since last December 28, as a result of a pre-existing illness.

Curiel also served as a deputy to the National Congress and promoted various projects. Such as the development of the South, housing plans, the Caracas Metro, the Housing Policy law and the Paraguaná Free Zone.

He was a civil engineer by profession and was a prominent leader of the Copei Social Christian Party. According to Unión Radio, José Curiel was “a great visionary and a man of great human quality. Besides being a tireless fighter for democracy and freedom ”.

The same did the opposition leaders María Corina Machado and Henrique Capriles Radonski, who sent their condolences to their families.
