Support of Rodríguez Zapatero to Petro
Previously, the former president of Spain expressed his support for the leftist candidate for the presidency of Colombia.
He recently said: “In Spain there is great expectation with Petro as president.”
Hours before his presence at the premiere of the documentary, Rodríguez Zapatero assured, from the Bogota Trade Clubthat there are guarantees for the Colombian presidential electoral process on May 29.
“As you know, two months ago I had a meeting with Gustavo Petro in Madrid to talk about transcendental issues, among others, violence and peace,” he declared.
And he added: “The dialogue that I have had with Gustavo Petro and with the leaders makes me think that the raison d’être of a possible history of Petro is to walk towards equality and walk towards the end of violence. Convert Colombia into a country of definitive peace.

Documentary about Gustavo Petro
The feature film was made by Jennifer Steffens, Colombian-German director and producer. At the premiere, in addition to Rodríguez Zapatero, there were Petro’s relatives and politicians close to him.
“I have been on this goal for almost a year. I am a follower of the politics of this country and I have been very attentive to the events and, especially, to Gustavo Petro Urrego. His life and his political thought have caught my attention, that’s why it seemed to me that the country deserved to know his personal life. I asked him and Verónica Alcocer to let me enter his house with a lens». This is how Steffens put it.
The filmmaker said one of the obstacles to filming was time constraints due to Petro’s hectic campaign schedule.
“One of the biggest limitations was time, we are in a very complicated moment of the presidential campaign, but we had enough space to tell things about Gustavo Petro’s humanity,” he assured.
