During his time at “Juego Textual”, José Miguel Viñuela referred extensively to the episode that ended up triggering his departure from Mega, the private channel where he worked for almost 20 years.
With a trembling voice and obviously affected by the situation, Jose Miguel Vinuela referred to in “Text Game” to his controversial departure from Mega in 2020, triggered by the most controversial episode of his career: the day he cut, live and direct, the hair of a “Mucho Gusto” photographer.
“I have to admit that after everything that happened to me, the channel supported me. I thought that when the whole episode happened in the morning, with the hair, I thought they were going to throw me out ”said the entertainer. “Because the contract actually says that if one really commits an action that goes against the editorial line, the channel’s values, it has the power to terminate the contract,” he added.
When asked about the support of his fellow program members, Viñuela replied: “More than 2 years have passed since this story, and it has been painful for all parties. For the person that happened to him, with whom I stayed, people don’t know, talking until three in the afternoon, trying to amend my mistake.
“The next day I ended up reading a letter in public, apologizing to this person, to the channel union, to the people who may have been affected. That was not forced. That was born to me to do it ”, Viñuela commented when asked questions from the women’s panel.
“When did you realize you were wrong?” They asked the driver. “To the shot: we went to commercials and the energy came in immediately. I realized immediately that I had screwed up. I started with the jars, I was responsible for what happened. If there were people who said something to me by voice, Pablete told me by voice not to do it, I honestly did not hear it, ”he recalled.
“I was destroyed the other day on the screen. It was very hard (…). One can make mistakes. The nobility is in recognizing them. At that time everything was very difficult, we were in a pandemic, after the outbreak. People, I think, also needed someone to be able to cut off their heads at the minutebecause people were eager, with many needs, with a lot of social injustice”, he commented on the situation of the country in 2020.
Once again consulted about the support of his channel colleagues, Viñuela recalled the day Karol Dance apologized in “Mucho Gusto”: “When Karol’s episode came, Karol apologized and we were 10 faces next to him, 10 faces that we do not doubt… I am not going to judge what may have happened there, what may have been said to others. “Many expressed solidarity and called me”he said of fellow cheerleaders whom he did not identify. “When I was branded as an abuser of power, I have never had power over anything in my life. We don’t have power over anything because we’re on TV, we have a window, a privilege, but I don’t have power.”he acknowledged.
At the end of his speech, José Miguel Viñuela did not hide his emotion: “I was wrong: they took me out of the morning and then they did not renew my contract. That’s my story.”
“Unfortunately, they closed the door on me and told me: what you did, not only hit you in the image, it hit the channel, and that hurt me a lot. And at night, when my wife was waiting for my last baby, Elisa, I received WhatsApp, because they published my information on social networks, and death threats came to me on WhatsApp at 3 in the morningand I had to eat it alone,” he said.
“I cried alone without waking up my wife, who was waiting for a bus, and I don’t want to victimize myself. But when you really screw up, you have to assume and even so, when you have two hands, two legs and are healthy, you have the chance to reinvent yourself,” he concluded.
