Journalist Olivia Gesbert has been appointed editor-in-chief of The New French Review (NRF). She “will strengthen the house’s editorial team”said Antoine Gallimard, president of the editions of the same name, on Tuesday September 5, in a message sent to his collaborators that Agence France-Presse was able to consult, confirming information from the magazine Weekly Books.

In this message, Mr. Gallimard welcomed “one of the great voices of France Culture, where she shared (…) his passion for French and foreign literature”. After starting her career on France Inter, Olivia Gesbert hosted for seven years literary and more broadly cultural programs on France Culture at midday, “La Grande Table” and “Bienvenue au club”. She was removed from the radio at the end of June, at the end of the season.

Founded in 1908, the prestigious literature review saw its formula completely overhauled in 2022, becoming a biannual publication. However, it had lost, after only a year, its editor-in-chief who had presided over these changes, Maud Simonnot, who had gone to a competitor, Editions du Seuil.

The next issue of NRF day due out October 12. He will explore “the reverse side of the edition”at the time of the great autumn literary prizes, as well as the theme of “borders”.
