Trujillo native Juan Ruiz was once again a prophet in his homeland, bringing great joy to his state. The leader of the Bolivarian Government of Trujillo – MPPOP team secured his title as champion of the Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cycling Classic, arriving first in Isnotu and winning the third and final stage that was in homage to Ramiro Infante.

Carvajal native Ruiz dominated two of his rivals from Team La Guacamaya, Carlos Torres and Yonathan Eugenio, in the sprint, the latter second in the final general classification. The local La Guacamaya was also the team champion of the race.

The experienced rider Ruiz was in great form, winning two of the three days of the JGH Classic, a competition that was an interesting prelude to the upcoming Vuelta a Trujillo, which will consist of eight stages.
