Judo: Teddy Riner injured with a sprained ankle

The Guadeloupean was injured during training and suffered from a sprained ankle. His participation in the Judo Worlds in a month and a half is not in question.

“Teddy Riner had been training in Rabat for a few days. This Wednesday on a projection of Teddy, the partner fell on his ankle causing immediate pain”, explain in a press release Laurent Winkler, federal doctor, and Christophe Baudot, the PSG doctor.

The judoka was repatriated to take exams in Paris, which revealed “an ankle sprain that will require wearing a brace and the use of crutches for three weeks”is added.

“The care will of course be provided daily and the physical preparation is not interrupted”specify the two doctors. “Consequently Teddy’s preparation program for the world championships is reviewed but his participation is maintained.”

Teddy Riner, 33-year-old ten-time world champion, is due to participate in the World Championships in a month and a half in Tashkent (October 6-13). His presence at the Worlds will be a first since 2017.
