Julian Nagelsmann: The New Coach for the German National Team

2023-09-19 12:06:50

The German team seeks to mend a path that has been crooked for several years, specifically after winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and would already have the brains to command the project.

The German team fired Hansi Flick a week ago and is therefore looking for a new coach to guide a process with good players who have not been able to give the expected performance.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the German Football Federation would already have the name practically ready and what is missing are salary adjustments. And the coach who takes over from Flick is Julian Nagelsmann, passing through Hoffenheim, Leipzig and Bayern Munich, where he became better known worldwide.

“The German DFB is now close to completing the formal agreement to appoint Julian Nagelsmann as the new coach of the national team,” said Romano, who credited the information from the German communicator, Christian Falk.

The latter is a striking point, since Nagelsmann left the Bavarian cast at the beginning of 2023, but is still receiving his salary. It is a move by the Munich team to avoid paying the coach’s entire remuneration in a single transfer and paying it off month by month.

But with the possibility of him arriving in Germany, Nagelsmann would have to end his relationship with Bayern and thus be free to sign a new contract.

Who is Julian Nagelsmann?

At only 36 years old, Nagelsmann is one of the most important coaches in German football. He began his career in 2015 coaching Hoffenheim, a team he led to third and fourth in the Bundesliga, qualifying for the Champions League.

He then had a spell with Leipzig, which he left runners-up in German football in 2021 and ended up joining Bayern Munich.

With the Bavarians he was Bundesliga champion in 2022, but did not make it past the quarterfinals of the Champions League. In his next year the results were more irregular and as the league was entangled by the fight with Borussia Dortmund, the board decided to fire him. He was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Breathe Luis Díaz

Only details are missing for Germany to have a coach and in this way Liverpool and Luis Díaz breathe easier, since the rumors that Jürgen Klopp was going to end up in the German national team did not stop.

Being the German-born coach with the greatest recognition worldwide, thanks to his work with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, Klopp has always been identified as the ideal coach to begin a winning process.

Hansi Flick’s departure

Hansi Flick became the first coach in German history to be fired. The bad results were notable, especially since his last games were defeats 2-0 with Colombia and 4-1 with Japan.

This whole scenario happens one year after Germany hosts Euro 2024, where the obligation to its public is to get a trophy that has been elusive since 1996, when they beat the Czech Republic in the final.

Flick was in charge of 25 matches, won 12 times, lost seven times and lost six times. His performance was 57.3%.
