Jung Joong Ji left us this month.
On September 20, Jung Joong Ji’s mother shared the sad news of his death via social media. According to his mother, the actor and idol committed suicide on September 9 at the age of 30. His funeral took place on September 11.
Jung Joong Ji appeared on Mnet’s “Produce 101” Season 2, which aired in 2017, as WayZ Company’s Kpop apprentice. Even before his appearance on the survival show, he gained popularity for his warm visuals on social media.
Jung Joong Ji was also active as an actor starring in “Prison” and “The Essence of Love.” In 2017, he won the Hanbit Award in the actor category organized by the Hallyu Selection Committee.
In the same year, he shared that he was bullied by WANNA ONE member Yoon Ji Sung during the show.
He was also accused in 2017 of harassing a woman by touching her inappropriately. However, the actor was never sued by the alleged victim.
After apologizing for the controversy, he accused his agency of spreading rumors about him. Due to Jung’s conflicting statements, the agency announced that it will take legal action against him for spreading false information and slandering the company.
