FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Mike Dibbini

On the match overall…

“I thought in the first half going into the wind, we did some nice things and increasing our chances. They executed early and they did a nice job of scoring early on. But after that goal, I felt like we settled a little bit more into the match where it gave us some opportunities and we felt like we were in the game still. So I thought we played hard. I thought we played well enough to win the game. We made a couple of mistakes that allowed them to score goals, but I thought the run of play and as far as the total game was concerned it was a pretty even match.”

On Khaliana Garrett’s performance…

“She’s got a strong mind and she’s not a quitter. I’m so extremely proud of her and the adversity that she’s gone through. She has the potential to be a very special player if she continues to do what she did tonight. She was a bright spot for us tonight.”

On corner kicks…

“We emphasized if you can’t get a shot off or get us a bit service, can you get us a corner kick and that’s why you saw a little bit more in our corner kicks. We had a lot of opportunities. They defended it well. They defended our targets in the box really well. Our team had a lot of heart tonight and credit them for fighting through the adversity they had to go through.”

On the 2023 season as a whole…

“They (the underclassmen) gained some quality minutes. There was a lot of growth and development, some valuable minutes to help them as we continue to move forward. It’s a bright, young future. We feel very good about the direction we’re going. We need to continue to spend more time together and develop some more chemistry on and off the field and I know we’re in a good situation here.”
