5th Kalabhavan Mani Memorial Award to Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine. The awards instituted by the Kalabhavan Mani Memorial Awards Committee, formed in memory of actor Kalabhavan Mani, were announced on January 1, Mani’s 53rd birthday. Mohanlal was chosen as the best actor for his performance in the film ‘Ner’. Meera Jasmine won Best Actress for her performance in ‘Queen Elizabeth’. Kathal directed by Jio Baby is the best movie.

Neer was a movie where the Jeethu Joseph-Mohanlal team reunited. The film is a courtroom thriller with Mohanlal in the role of a lawyer. Priyamani, Siddique and Anaswara Rajan are the other stars. The film also entered the fifty crore club.

Meera Jasmine as the heroine M. Queen Elizabeth is a family entertainer directed by Padmakumar. The film hit the theaters on December 29 and is getting a good response from the family audience. Queen Elizabeth received the biggest reception for a female-centric film in recent times. The film continues to run house-full in all the centers where it has been released.
