Surf champion Kalani David has died in Costa Rica aged just 24.

As the “Huffington Post” reports, he had suffered a severe heart attack while surfing.

Six years earlier he had suffered a similar seizure while skating in a park. It was then that his heart suddenly stopped beating. He suffered serious facial injuries.

The doctors then diagnosed him with “Wolf-Parkinson White Syndrome”, a congenital heart rhythm disorder. After another seizure, he finally had heart surgery.

He was considered one of the greatest talents in the surfing scene. At the age of 14 he won his first gold medal at the “ISA Junior Surfing World Championship” in Panama.
