Champion of the Beijing Olympics in the team tournament Kamila Valieva stated in an interview with Laysan Utyasheva that she has three idols in figure skating – Alina Zagitova, Evgenia Medvedeva and Yulia Lipnitskaya.
“In figure skating – Alina Zagitova, Zhenya Medvedeva. They are completely different, but unique and beautiful in their own way. And Yulia Lipnitskaya – when I first saw her at the Olympics in 2014, she just sat like this: “Wow! How she rides, how she spins! Valieva said.
Medvedeva is a two-time world champion (2016, 2017) and a two-time silver medalist of the Pyeongchang Games. Zagitova is the champion and silver medalist of the 2018 Olympics, the 2019 world champion. Lipnitskaya is the gold medalist of the Sochi Games in the team tournament, the silver medalist of the World Championship.
Valieva said she was satisfied with RUSADA’s decision on her doping case
Figure skating
Valieva is 16 years old, she is the champion of Europe and the Olympics in the team tournament. The figure skater was stripped of her victory in the Russian Championship in December 2021 due to a positive doping test.
Earlier, the International Skating Union and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) allowed the possibility of appealing against the verdict of the independent disciplinary anti-doping committee RUSADA, which did not find fault or negligence in Valiyeva’s actions and was limited only to the annulment of her results on the day of the test.
