The closure of service stations following the explosion at the hydrocarbon depot in Kaloum, on government orders, is not without consequences in Conakry and inside the country, particularly in Kankan.

Among the first decisions taken by the authorities was the closure of stations to avoid speculation on fuel prices. “Because people have understood that there was a fire here, there are some who come with cans to get supplies, and others simply to speculate. It is strictly forbidden to sell fuel. Secondly, tanker trucks are prohibited from leaving Conakry until further notice,” explained the Minister of Security, Bachir Diallo.

According to our regional correspondent, almost all of the stations in the urban municipality have respected the government’s decision. Which is not without impact. Owners of rolling vehicles turn to the black market where the liter trades between 15 and 25,000 Gnf. And this, despite warnings from municipal authorities.
